HIRUDOTHERAPY +

Medicinal leech treatment with complementary therapies

Adam S.

I know, call me crazy, but those slimy little things work. Okay, I'm 45, active, fit, healthy, but having played football in the Big Ten as a linebacker, I got some issues with my joints, especially my knees. Not much cartilage left in them. Went to see Irina and after one session of magnets on my body, ozone in my ears and 3 leeches on each knees, my knees felt reborn!

TREATMENTS

Your session may include any or all of the following therapies, as determined by your needs.

Treatment time is approx. 1 1/2-3 hrs.

Cost varies depending on how many treatment modalities are used. Call for initial consult.

VISCERAL MANIPULATION
hirudotherapy.jpg

A soft, hands-on manual treatment, Visceral Manipulation supports your body's ability to release restrictions and to decongest the soft tissues of internal organs. This technique prepares a person's body for the application of leeches.

Medical leeches are recognized as natural "mini factories" that produce a balanced set of bio-active compounds that have an influence on the human body's health and wellbeing.  It is an ecologically clean holistic remedy.

BIOMAGNETIC PAIR THERAPY

03

biomagnetic.jpg

The system consists of identifying pH imbalances in the human body. This is done by scanning the body using muscle testing (applied kinesiology technique). The regions of the body that require correction are identified and magnets are then applied to these areas for approx. 20 minutes. The magnetic energy reestablishes equilibrium (balanced pH). This therapy is non-invasive, safe, and painless. There are no side effects.

EE CUBE ENERGY ENHANCEMENT

04

WET OR DRY CUPPING
cupping.jpg

Cupping therapy is an ancient Chinese form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin; practioners believe this mobilizes blood flow in order to promote healing. Cupping therapy prepares a person's body for leech therapy.

Bio-scalar photonic technology produces a fountain of photon waves that assists in restoring the body’s bioenergetic field. This enhancement continuously runs in the background throughout the duration of your session.

Leeches have long been known for their blood-sucking abilities. In 2003, German scientists discovered that leeches' saliva combat inflammation, too. In October, Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City will become one of the first U.S. hospitals to offer leech therapy for osteoarthritis of the knee. We learn how and why leech therapy works.

Common questions

Is the treatment painful?

The initial sensation is a tingling that subsides very quickly.  Leeches inject a morphine-like substance, along with variety of other unique bio-active components, which virtually eliminates any pain during the treatment.  During World War II, surgeons used leeches to help soldiers with pain shock.

Most times, just 4-5 leeches are applied to the problem area. When the leeches attach, a person will experience minimal discomfort.   A leech bite is very delicate and on the upper surface of the skin.  After 30-50 minutes the leeches will be done with their work and detach by themselves or, if need be, are gently removed. One should expect a small amount of blood at the attachment site. This bleeding is easily controlled by bandages.

The FDA approved the use of leeches for medical purposes in 2004 due to the highly successful study on osteo arthritis of the knees. Click the button to listen to the NPR talk on leech treatment for arthritis.

Hirudotherapy is regaining worldwide popularity as a natural solution in alternative medicine.

How long is the treatment and what does it include?

First treatment is about 2.5 - 3 hours, and includes (only as necessary for each individual):

  • Applied Kinesiology technique of muscle testing for identifying beneficial/harmful food regimen, supplements, etc;

  • Biomagnetic treatment;

  • Ozone treatment (if needed)

  • Visceral diagnostics;

  • Cupping;

  • Hirudotherapy.

Follow up-treatments last between 1.5 - 2.5 hours.

How much does the treatment cost?

The price of the treatment varies depending on the modalities used, as well as the amount of leeches.  Please feel free to call for a telephone consultation.

Is there a chance that a leech might enter the body?

Absolutely not!  All work is thoroughly supervised, and once the leeches are applied they do not move untill they are done.

What are the contraindications for Hirudotherapy?

Due to unique compatability of leech bio active substances with naturally produced by healthy human body, there are only few contraindications for Hirudotherapy: Hemophilia (blood clotting disorder), Leukemia, Miltiple Myeloma, Lymphoma, Anemia, Advanced cancer, HIV, people on immunosuppressive medication, and individuals with a pacemaker.

What kind of leeches are used?

Hirudo Medicinalis, Medicinal leeches, are used exclusively.  No wild leeches are ever used.  Medicinal leeches are raised on special bio farms that follow strict sanitary practices according to the laws and regulations.

Are leeches used more than once?

Leeches are NEVER used more than once!
